Writing Effective Social Scripts

Social scripts are a great tool that caregivers can use to describe situations, skills, and concepts in a way that is both visual and relevant for people with Autism and similar disorders.  In this seminar, you will learn how social scripts can facilitate and support learning, living, and employment success. Participants with learn to write personalized social scripts that include visual supports to supplement the script.  Strategies for making modifications for individuals of varying ages and abilities will also be discussed.

YOUR INSTRUCTOR:

Jody Hofer Van Ness is a licensed educator with a Master’s Degree in Education and a certificate in autism.  She has a background in classroom teaching, school administration, and family education, but is quick to point out that her greatest learning opportunity has been her 21 year old son who lives with autism.

 

Currently Jody serves as a Pyschoeducational Consultant for the many divisions of Fraser.  She also owns and operates Eye Box Tools, Inc. which provides a line of products for supporting individuals who benefit from visual strategies and solutions
