It is very common for human service professionals to work with clientele who have experienced some form of trauma in their lives.  Professionals often learn that clients who experience complex trauma often present with extreme, unusual behaviors.  This class will explore the complex interplay of trauma, the brain and culture and how it affects service provision.  When we use a “trauma lens” we can begin to see how a client’s behavior might be a “normal reaction to abnormal circumstances.”

YOUR INSTRUCTOR Lisa Borneman, MSW, LICSW is the Clinical Services Supervisor at Youthlink, a resource center for homeless youth.  She has 10 years experience working with youth in crisis.  She has 21 years of experience training adult learners in a variety of workplaces.
